Can Quads Be Made Equal Size?

Discussion

  1. ParaCloud Support Team:

I am using ParaCloud GEM 2010 with the free version of SketchUp and I have a question about mesh cleanup. I have successfully cleaned the mesh (see attached file) into quads, but they are different sizes. Can the quads be made an equal size throughout the mesh?

Thank you in advance for your support.

  2. The path you used for the Follow Tool in SketchUp is made of arcs in different length. You can edit the number of segments of each arc (in the entity info of every arc of your path so that shorter arcs will have less segments.

We are looking into adding a feature for the profiler tool that will enable more control on the distance between profiles.

  3. Thank you for your quick reply. I changed the number of segments in the arcs in SketchUp as you suggested and it worked well.

The attached file shows a plan view of a diagonal ribs structure indicating that all of the quads used in its construction were approximately equal in size.

Having a profiler tool for this purpose would simplify this process. I'm glad you'll be adding it. Thanks again.

  4. Question: Why did my first post not show the image like my second post did? They are both .jpg files and approximately the same file size.

  5. I tried to use the same model to create a square ribbed structure instead of a diagonal one. I created the first rib mesh successfully and exported it. When I tried to create the second rib mesh it crashed with the attached error message. What went wrong? Thanks.
