This still does not appear to work. I have been using curves created using the cirle or elipse commands so they are closed. I still get 40 points and the curves appear open in paracloud.

Hi,
I have been having trouble following the Grid Shell modeling tutorial. When I try to create the initial 41 points by diving the curve into 40 segments, I only seem to get 40 points. Even if I divide by 41 then import them into paracloud, I come across another problem. I create the 15 profiles, but it appears the outer skin is not closed. there is a gap. I think this has something to do with the number of points.
Any ideas?

Hi Shaun,

You can create a loft based honeycomb pattern and thicken it to solid in Rhino using the _OffsetSRF command with the solid/bothsides option.

The component will look like this:

From______To_______Pos______Comp
1__________________________Straight
-1
1________2________0.25
-1_______-2________0.25
4________3________0.25
-4_______-3________0.25
4
-4

and the second component is:

From______To_____Pos____Comp
2______________________Straight
-2
2_________1_____0.25
-2________-1_____0.25
3_________4_____0.25
-3________-4_____0.25
3
-3

Place the component using an alternating population pattern (Loft Entity)

When sampling a surface or extracting the wireframe and intersecting - you get the sampling points on the UV intersections. So effectively you get the isocurves sampled

When projecting curve and dividing/intersecting - you are controling the location of the points on the surface - so this way you can create your own setting out rather then using isocurves.

Hey e,

To my knowledge there are three ways to import a surface into paracloud.
1) Create surface_rhino_rebuild_select and then import button
2)Create surface in rhino_contour_divide_escape then select all points from the divide and import into paracloud
3)Create surface_rebuild and then extract wire frame_intersect and import points into rhino

Could you explain the differences between the methods?

You can take the txt file into Excel and get it separated into columns. Following that you can copy it to the Cloud Data of ParaCloud. If the points are ordered as you say, ParaCloud can guess it using the Order Detection Tool. Then you can use it for populating components.

send us the data (txt file) to info@paracloud.com and we can prepare a tutorial for you.

I have a three dimensional cloud of points (not associated with a surface) The coordinates are a txt file generated in Mathematica all evenly spaced on a 3d grid. I have a want to be able to place two or three different components (imported from Maya) at the center of each point. I have not used paracloud before this if some one could give me some clues about how to being learning how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.

I would extract the wireframe of the surfaces and then join them up. Following that you can verify that all curves are in the same direction (_Dir) and intersect them starting with the U and then the V. The resulted points will be ordered and ready to import to ParaCloud.

Anouther way is to project setting out curves on the poly surfaces, divide or intersect them and import the points.

Please send us the surface file to - info@paracloud.com and we will record a video tutorial on that.

Hey e,

How would you use the paracloud modeler to populate a surface like the R&Sie project with the varying lengths of individual grass peieces so that the surface actually looks so convincing?

Second how on earth do you do that worm hole effect of interlocking tunnels?

We are uploading the video tutorials again - please try again in a few hours, as the upload takes some time.

The new files have better quality and the player handles them much better.

Hi,

Try clearing your internet cache - I think you installed teh previous update that was still on your computer cache.

In the internet options of your browser clean the cache and try downloading the update again.

Hi Eyal
And thanks for the update file, but after download and install there is no difference in the interface and I dont get any of the new features.
In the splash screen (when asks for username) it says version 1.0.2 but later in the main window it says v 1.0
What to do?
best regards
